An Impressive Fragment of Antique French Toile. Circa mid 1800's. Features a young lad showing a young maiden how to play the flute. A perfect size for framing or to make a pillow. Slightly faded burgundy on off white, very good condition! Original backing and some of the hand stitches from the quilting are still left. Measures 12 1/2" x 9 1/2".

This is a delicate and rare find. I purchased this exquisite piece of toile in Paris. I, and 3 other antique dealers, have dated this to be from the 1780's. It retains a lovely faded gold tones. The fabric is in very worn condition, no tears, but several holes. I see it framed, but it could be cut for a few pillows. A real beauty!
