If you look closely at the enlargements, you can see the only breakage that this shelf had, just behind the deer head and is straight across. It was a clean break in the wood and it has been repaired. I had the deer's antlers removed for shipping back from Europe, and will ship out in the same manner, so no breakage occurs during shipping. Otherwise, the shelf is in very good condition. It would look great as a useable shelf in a den or study, or place it above a door for architectural interest!
